Cambodia’s Rubber Export Values US$187 Million in 2016

Cambodia's rubber export in 2016 was 145,100 matrix tons - a 13 percent increase compared to the volume in the previous year.

The total export of rubber in 2016 valued US$187 million, continued the report shared by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries during the recent concluding of its 2016-2017 work review and planning meeting taking place at the Peace Palace here in Phnom Penh.

Thanks to the rising market price of the product, the total land used for rubber cultivation was expanded to 432,735 hectares across the country, about 11 percent upturn.

Of the mentioned rubber plantation coverage, added the report, 64 percent have been invested by corporate sector and the rest belongs to Cambodian households.

According to H.E. Pal Sopha, Director General of the Rubber Department, the main markets for Cambodia's rubber product are Malaysia and Vietnam, and Cambodia is expected to export around 200,000 matrix tons of rubber in 2018.
