CamDEBATE 2019 Nearing Final Round

The first international debate and public speaking championship hosted by Cambodia is nearing the final stage, scheduled for Aug. 11.

The notification of the Kingdom’s historic championship was shared recently by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Branded CamDEBATE 2019, the Cambodia international debate and public speaking contest, after series of audition and elimination rounds since early May, has by far identified 20 finalists toward the last challenge.

CamDEBATE was claimed as a premiere platform for professional development in public speaking and debate, cultivating a healthy culture of dialogue and the sharing of different perspectives to promote and foster understanding, friendship and knowledge among youths in Cambodia.

Initiated by IDP Education, a leading international education and student placement services, in partnership with key institutions in Cambodia and internationally, CamDEBATE intends primarily to provide a platform to support the development of problem solving, critical thinking and interpersonal skills among Cambodian students and young professionals.

It also opens an opportunity for individuals who wish to engage in debate and public speaking in English to increase their fluency and showcase their proficiency and to develop important skills that benefit participants’ academic journeys, personal development and career prospects.

The contests were opened for high school students from the age of 15 years old up, and for university students and young professionals below 25 years old.

The winner of the challenges will be granted with prizes and recognition, including a fully-funded study tour trip to the United Kingdom.
