CARDI Launches Books on Main Achievements of Research and Technology Development

The Cambodian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) launched here yesterday three books on Main Achievements in Research and Technology Development on the occasion of its 18th Anniversary.
The launching ceremony was presided over by H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Dr. Ouk Makara, Director of CARDI, briefed the participants on CARDI’s achievements in the past 18 years, especially in preserving key crops, developing and producing new crops, transferring agricultural techniques and managing land resources, training human resources, cooperating in research and technology development with international partners, and so on.
H.E. Veng Sakhon expressed his appreciation for the CARDI’s achievements and recalled the reasons of its establishment.
CARDI was created in August 1999, as a semi-autonomous institute to assist the Royal Government of Cambodia to achieve its rural development objectives. Itfocuses on applying technology with major impacts on poverty alleviation and living standards, delivering high quality, highly valued research and development services, working in partnership with extension, NGO and private sector agencies to increase the impact of improved technologies, improving its capacity to deliver quality research and development services that meet client needs, apply a business-like approach to its operation, and promote the impact and value of research for the development of Cambodia.
