UUM Celebrates Muhammad Azri and Fellow Graduates’ Triumph at Convocation

Sintok – Muhammad Azri Mizra, overcoming initial setbacks, has graduated from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as the recipient of the prestigious Royal Education Award. After being rejected twice from university following his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations in 2015, Muhammad Azri pursued a diploma at the MARA professional college in Johor, leading to his acceptance into UUM.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, He dedicated his success to his mother, highlighting the importance of persistence and hard work. Fellow award recipients, J Kaavilash Nair and Nurfarazida Salleh, also shared their journeys of overcoming initial disappointments to achieve academic success.

UniMAP Honored with TVET Certification at META 2023, Graduates Poised for Advanced Tech Careers

ARAU: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first technical university in Malaysia to be awarded the Best for Professional TVET Certification at the 2023 Malaysia Education and TVET Awards (META 2023). This recognition underscores the university’s commitment to high-impact Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, particularly in advanced technological sectors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Raja Muda of Perlis and chancellor of UniMAP, the university’s success can be attributed to its emphasis on critical TVET programs in areas like electrical and electronics, with a specific focus on the semiconductor industry. He highlighted this achievement during the 18th UniMAP Convocation, attended also by UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr. Zaliman Sauli.

The Raja Muda emphasized that TVET UniMAP aims to equip students with a blend of knowledge, soft skills, and technical capabilities to enhance their marketability and align with industry needs. This approach is intended to position TVET as a primary choice for the younger generation.

Furthermore, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin recognized the potential impact of UniMAP graduates on their future careers, lauding their potential for greater success. He expressed congratulations to the graduates and gratitude to the parents, guardians, and families for their sacrifices. He also acknowledged the vital role played by UniMAP educators in shaping graduates with integrity, identity, and leadership qualities.

The convocation ceremony will see a total of 3,555 UniMAP graduates receiving their scrolls over four days. Among these, 2,657 will be awarded Bachelor’s Degrees, 67 PhDs, 121 Master’s degrees, 551 diplomas, and 159 Professional Development and Continuing Education (PDCE) certifications.

Cambodia and Japanese College Collaborate on Education Initiatives

Phnom Penh – In a significant move to enhance educational cooperation, Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) and Osaka Christian College of Japan (OCC) held discussions focused on their collaborative efforts in the field of education.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting, which took place on November 12, was led by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MoEYS, and Mr. Masakuni Negishi, the head of the visiting OCC delegation. This discussion marks a continued effort to strengthen educational ties between Cambodia and Japan.

Mr. Masakuni Negishi detailed OCC’s collaboration with Hiroshima House, an NGO, in executing a kindergarten project in Phnom Penh. This initiative offers free education for young children and aims to contribute to Cambodia’s human resource development, starting at the kindergarten level.

H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron expressed his appreciation for OCC’s involvement in Cambodia’s educational development. He emphasized the high priority given by the Kingdom and MoEYS to early childhood education, recognizing its critical role in the overall development of the country’s human resources.

Currently, OCC is engaged in a partnership with the Royal University of Phnom Penh. This collaboration includes promoting scholarships, student exchange programs, and joint research initiatives. A significant aspect of this partnership is the implementation of a Japanese language curriculum targeted at high school students. The program is designed for students who aspire to study at OCC or other Japanese institutions and those interested in working in Japan.

The educational program is set to commence with two schools in the Cambodian provinces of Prey Veng and Kampot. Plans are underway to expand this initiative to more high schools in the future, indicating a broadening scope of educational cooperation between Cambodia and Japan.

This collaborative effort between Cambodia and OCC is a testament to the growing international partnership in the field of education, aimed at enhancing opportunities and resources for students at various educational levels.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Launches Educational Anti-Corruption Digital Game

Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched an innovative educational mobile game, the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission Augmented Reality (MACC AR), According to BARNAMA News Agency, aimed at bolstering public support in the fight against corruption. Nazli Rasyid Sulong, the community education division director of MACC, stated in a press release that the digital game is designed to educate and engage the public, particularly students, in understanding the role of MACC and the perils of corruption.

The game, conceptualized by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, is developed to be user-friendly and informative, making it an effective teaching tool in schools. Utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology, the game enables the display of animations, videos, and images as visuals in the real world through smart gadgets. This approach allows students to grasp the anti-corruption message more effectively, regardless of their location.

Nazli highlighted that AR technology, a core component of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, facilitates content delivery to users through engaging audio and visuals, enhancing the learning experience. The MACC AR app is available for free on various platforms, including the GAMMA platform, Google Play, App Store, and AppGallery. This initiative represents MACC’s commitment to leveraging technology for educational purposes and to foster a deeper understanding and proactive stance against corruption among the Malaysian public.

Eco-Schools Programme Embraces Students with Special Education Needs in Malaysia

TEMERLOH – The Eco-Schools programme in Malaysia is making strides in inclusivity by acknowledging and supporting students with special education needs, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced. The programme offers tailored interventions based on the functionality and support requirements of these students.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina highlighted the significance of the programme in augmenting the national education ecosystem and ensuring equitable opportunities for all students. She emphasized the importance of protecting and empowering the rights of students with special education needs, as they, too, are entitled to quality education. This move is seen as a crucial step in reducing the dropout rate among these students.

The minister’s speech was delivered by her deputy Lim Hui Ying at the opening ceremony of the Eco-Schools Malaysia and Greening Education Partnership (GEP) Roadmap 2030 at the Integrated Fully Residential School (SBPI) Temerloh. The event was graced by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, with His Majesty’s daughter Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Ilyana serving as the royal patron of Eco-Schools Pahang. Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was also in attendance.

Additionally, Fadhlina mentioned that the Eco-Schools programme integrates elements of inquiry-based learning and youth leadership. This approach aligns with the national education philosophy, aiming to nurture a competent and capable generation of educators. The eco-school methodology focuses on curriculum integration, incorporating environmental education elements into the national learning syllabus to enhance student engagement and learning.

The programme also provides access to quality educational resources from the Foundation for Environmental Education’s global database, along with international networks and connections from over 95 countries.
