CDC and Japan’s Mizuho Bank Sign MoU on Investment Promotion Cooperation

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and Japan’s Mizuho Bank reached here yesterday afternoon a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on investment promotion cooperation.

The Cambodian side was led by H.E. SokChendaSophea, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of CDC, whereas the Japanese side was headed by Mr. Imai Seiji, Head of Mizuho Bank for Asia and Oceania.

The MoU aims to set cooperation actions between CDC and Mizuho Bank to promote Japanese investments in Cambodia as well as to enhance partnership between Cambodian and Japanese entrepreneurs.

According to CDC, Japan invested about US$822 million in Cambodia in 2016, equal to 22.78 percent of the total investment capital in the country.

Mizuho Bank of Japan is one of the three biggest banks in Japan with business operations in 549 places around the world. The bank is currently operating in eight ASEAN countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.
