China Merchants Port Delegation Visits Cambodia for Port Master Plan Development

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport received here yesterday a courtesy call from a visiting delegation of China Merchants Port Services (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (CM Port Service) led by Mr. Jiang Luning, Director of Overseas Business.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), the aim of the visit was to conduct a study in support of the development of a Cambodian Port Master Plan which should be completed within a three-month period. This visit was made at the request of H.E. Minister who had visited China last month.

H.E. Sun Chanthol suggested that the study focuses on Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh Ports, and Cambodia’s maritime inland waterways that connect to the Mekong River.

After the meeting, the Chinese delegation held a meeting with the ministry’s directors general of logistics and inland waterways, maritime and ports, and teams from the Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville Autonomous Ports in order to share relevant data and inputs related to the development of the Port Master Plan for Cambodia.
