China Pledges 3,000 Million Yuan for Cambodia’s Development

China has promised to provide over 3,000 million yuan in the coming years to support Cambodia’s development.

The financial pledge was made known during a meeting here early this week between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong and visiting H.E. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

The meeting also touched on the strengthening of excellent relations between the two countries in all sectors, and on China’s investment in hydropower construction projects in Cambodia, H.E. Hor Namhong told reporters after the meeting.

Cambodia comprises seven Chinese-invested hydropower dams. Six are currently in operation and 1 is under construction, underlined H.E. Hor Namhong.

Both sides also discussed the Mekong-Lancang cooperation, a new mechanism to further boost the cooperation between Cambodia and China, and the South China Sea issue.
