China To Continue Supporting Cambodia’s Transport infrastructure Development

Chinese Minister of Transport H.E. Li Xiaopeng has agreed to continue to support Cambodia's transport infrastructure development.

He made the agreement during his bilateral talk in Beijing, China on Wednesday with Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol, according to a news release of the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).

On the occasion, H.E. Sun Chanthol requested the Chinese side to support MPWT in feasibility studies for road and railroad construction projects in Phnom Penh and from the capital to provinces.

H.E. Senior Minister further asked the Chinese side to help design a master plan for port capacity expansion, service payment reduction and efficient and effective transportation so as to reduce traffic accidents and congestion.

H.E. Li Xiaopeng expressed his determination to contribute to strengthening Cambodia-China cooperation and to assist in boosting Cambodia's transport infrastructure development and road safety within the framework of One Belt and One Road Initiative and that of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The Chinese side also promised to encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in the Kingdom under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) form.
