Chinese Company Interested in Developing New Railway Project in Cambodia

China Railway 16th Bureau Group is interested in building a new railway track from the existing southern line to Phnom Penh Autonomous Port.

Mr. Tang Zhen, Representative to Cambodia of the China Railway 16th Bureau Group, paid a courtesy call on Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chantol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on Friday last week, during which he presented the pre-feasibility study of the new railway track project to H.E. Senior Minister.

According to a news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the project may cost over US$$250 million.

H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed his appreciation for the information and suggested the Chinese company to collect more data and to do more research to determine whether this project is financially and economically viable.
