Chinese Delegation Seeks Investment Opportunity in Cambodia

A Chinese delegation led by Executive President of China-ASEAN Business Council Mr. Xu Ningning paid a courtesy call on Cambodia's Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities in Cambodia on Dec. 03.

During the meeting, H.E. Pan Sorasak informed his guest that the Royal Government of Cambodia plans to transform the whole of Preah Sihanouk province into a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) because this province has a lot of potential and is the only deep-sea seaport in Cambodia, said a press release of the ministry.

For his part, Mr. Mr. Xu Ningning said that with the upcoming announcement of China-ASEAN Industrial Cooperation, Cambodia's Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025 could be studied concurrently with that of ASEAN to find common ground to establish an action plan for industrial development in Cambodia which could help in attracting more investment in Cambodia.

H.E. Minister also suggested that Chinese investors invest in the establishment of industrial zones that could manufacture agricultural equipment as well as construction materials which are in high demand since agriculture sector is still important for Cambodia and needs a lot of investments.

Mr. Xu Ningning accepted the request and he will discuss the proposition to the Chinese Agriculture Equipment Association upon his return.
