Civil society calls on the leaders to return to talks and achieve a solution the soonest possible

Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, supporters of a solution, gathered here tonight outside Ledra Palace hotel, in the UN-controlled buffer zone, to press on with their demand for a political settlement and send a message to the leaders of the island's two communities to reach an agreement to reunite Cyprus as soon as possible.

Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus and UNFICYP Head of Mission Elisabeth Spehar received a petition they handed over to her, to be communicated to Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, who are sitting at a dinner at Ledra Palace, hosted by UN Secretary General's Special Advisor Espen Barth Eide.
