Cambodia has officially withdrawn its membership from the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) on Sept. 20, 2024, and the process is legally effective without further endorsements.
The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit issued a statement today to explain to the public so that they will not fall into the ill-willed trick by a small group of outlawed opposition extremists overseas who had misleadingly claimed otherwise.
The CLV-DTA, continued the statement, belongs to a category of simple agreements, the ratification of which does not necessitate either the approval by the legislative bodies nor the high-level promulgation by the King of Cambodia.
For that, the membership withdrawal from the deal can come into force through the decision by the Royal Government of Cambodia, and the Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, with the support from the President of Senate Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has formalised the exit.
The spokesperson unit expressed its de
ep dismay for either pure or pretended ignorance of the opposition extremists that have shown none of any constructive, factual, or responsible qualifications but unfortunate intention to fuel social chaos and destruction to the innocent, peace, and the development of Cambodia.
The statement reaffirmed the high commitment of the Royal Government not only to secure growth and become a high-income country by 2050 but also to maintain Cambodia’s peace and absolute national sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
The government will continue to accelerate the development of the north-eastern border areas as well as other border areas on the principle of friendship, cooperation, and sovereignty, it added.
