CMAC to Build Training Complex and Outreach Facility

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) will construct a training complex and an outreach facility to further strengthen its capacity.
Minutes of Discussions on the Preparatory Survey for the Project for the Construction of Training Complex and Outreach Facility of CMAC was signed at CMAC headquarters recently between its Director General H.E. Heng Ratana and Ms. Eri Komukai, Senior Advisor of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tokyo.
According to the CMAC director general, the purpose of this project is to strengthen the capacity of CMAC with technical capacity and equipment to support training activities for both national and international levels and to become a Centre of Excellence in mine action.
The Japanese teams, both JICA and consultants, have conducted the preparatory survey of the construction needs for the Technical Institute of Mine Action in Kampong Chhnang province and the outreach facility including the Peace Museum in Siem Reap province.
Cambodia’s mine clearance sector has also gained support from the U.S., Australia, England, Japan, Norway, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, South Korea, Ireland, UNDP, and UNICEF as well as other related organisations.
