Commerce Minister: China’s Investment in Cambodia Found in Textile and Manufacturing

China's investment in Cambodia have mainly been found in the fields of textile, manufacturing, construction and electricity, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, said while presiding over the opening of Cambodia-China (Tianjin) Trade Promotion Forum in Tianjin city early this week.

The total of Chinese investment capital in the Kingdom rose to US$5.1 billion, H.E. Minister quoted the official figures in 2016, adding that the two-way trade increased up to US$4.8 billion in the same year.

At the same time, he added, the number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia reached 830,000, up 19.5 percent compared to a year earlier.

In June 2016, the Kingdom launched the White Paper on China Ready for Cambodia Tourism aiming to attract some two million Chinese tourists a year by 2020.

Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025 was also mentioned by H.E. Minister at the forum.
