Commerce Ministry Regulates Gemstone and Jewellery Sellers Record Transparency

Ministry of Commerce will regulate business activities of gemstones and jewellery to strengthen transparency and crack down on the sale of fraudulent overpriced products.

The CAMCONTROL officers from the Commerce Ministry in collaboration with local authorities will inspect gemstone and jewellery shops and retailers, according to a directive issued on Dec. 19.

The sellers or traders have to conduct transparency in business of selling and distributing gemstones, jewellery, and souvenir and provide accurate information and record related to their products, underlined the directive.

Sellers have to attach price tags to their products, said the directive.
