Commune/Sangkat Council Members To Get Free Medical Care from 2018

AKP Phnom Penh, Some 60,000 commune/Sangkat council members, and village chiefs, deputy chiefs and assistants will have access to free medical checkup and treatment at state-owned hospitals from next year onward.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen at the get-together with more than 15,000 workers and employees from 13 factories and enterprises in Kob Srov area, Khan Pursenchey, Phnom Penh yesterday.

Moreover, women at the village and commune level will get the same benefit as female garment workers when they give birth to their babies, he added.

According to the premier, there are now 43,149 commune/Sangkat council members and 11,572 village chiefs, deputy chiefs and assistants.
