Construction of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Now 90 Percent Complete

Construction of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway is now 90 percent complete and it will be put into temporary use in July this year, confirmed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the construction site on April 26, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport said that the ministry is in stage of discussion with relevant ministries and institutions to limit the high speed of 120km/hour on the expressway.
“The expressway is about 90 percent complete and we will also consider limiting the high speed at 120 km/hour,” he said.
The ministry is also discussing with the expressway investment company to set a toll of less than US$10 cents per kilometre.
The expressway is invested by PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). It takes 48 months to build the expressway with a total cost US$2 billion.
