Continuity of Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals Ensured

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health are requested to work together to ensure the continuity of Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals.

The request was made by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen while presiding over the official launch of the National Social Protection Policy Framework 2016-2025 at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh this morning.

I'd like to ask especially the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health to cooperate in drawing up a plan to provide necessary support, particularly financial support from the Royal Government of Cambodia, to ensure the sustainable operation of Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals by maintaining the hospitals' good discipline, high quality, good services and free treatment to all children, he said.

Cambodia can still do it (ensuring the continuity of Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals) in case the assistance from the Swiss government or from Kantha Bopha Foundation is cut off, stressed Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Dr. Beat Richner has resigned from his position as President of Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals and returned to his country- Switzerland- due to his serious health problem.

Kantha Bopha hospitals were established in Cambodia since 1992. They are the biggest children's hospitals in Cambodia and the world.

The four Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals in Phnom Penh and the Jayavarman VII Children's Hospital in Siem Reap province have been supported by the Cambodian and Swiss governments as well as many other local and foreign charitable people.
