COVID-19 Lockdowns Not Necessary Anymore

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has reconfirmed that Cambodia had no plan to enforce COVID-19 lockdowns as the vaccination rate in the country is high.

“It is not necessary to impose lockdowns on markets, schools, factories … because many people have already been vaccinated against the pandemic,” the Premier said while holding a get-together here this morning with the Cambodian delegation for the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia, insisting his compatriots to get the booster doses.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the ministries and institutions and factories to encourage their staff to get vaccinated or request for a medical team to provide vaccines for them at their workplace.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Prime Minister said Cambodia had decided to join Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam in the ASEAN Regional Reserve of Medical Supplies for Public Health Emergencies by contributing a fund of US$ 1 million, 2.20 million facemasks, and some other necessary medical equipment.
