CPP Marks 68th Founding Anniversary

The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) held a meeting to mark its 68th founding anniversary under the presidency of its President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and its Honorary President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin.

Around 30,000 party members and supporters attended the celebration taking place at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted the country's past achievements under the CPP's leadership and expressed the party's firm determination to defend independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and to oppose foreign interference in the Cambodian internal affairs, because, he explained, such interference was the major cause for the country's disaster.

[] Cambodia is under no foreign rules. We give no chance to foreign interference in our internal affairs. We bow to no pressures or threats. We already went through unjust sanction from countries. That we do not bow our heads is the honour of our nation, he underlined.

Founded on June 28, 1951, CPP was formerly known as the Kampuchea People's Revolutionary Party. It was renamed CPP in 1991. The party has played an indispensable role in the peace-seeking process, reconstruction and development of Cambodia, and now in the country's efforts to maintain peace, defend independence and boost more development.
