CPP To Appear No. 1 on Ballot of Senate Election

The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) will be placed first on the ballot for the upcoming senate election, according to a public lucky draw conducted this morning by the country's two supreme patriarchs, venerable Tep Vong and venerable Bour Kry.

Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) will appear second on the ballot while the Khmer National United Party (KNUP), and FUNCINPEC Party will be listed third and fourth, respectively.

The draw was held at the Ministry of Interior in the presence of H.E. Sik Bun Hok, President of the National Election Committee (NEC).

As scheduled, the fourth-mandate senate election will take place on Feb. 25, 2018 with the participation of the four above said parties.

There are 62 seats in the forth-term election of the senate � of them, two will be nominated by His Majesty the King, another two by the National Assembly, and the rest are those who will win the voting.

Only elected commune and Sangkat councillors and eligible members of the National Assembly can vote to select members of senate.
