CPV General Secretary Concludes State Visit in Cambodia

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong wrapped up his three-day state visit in Cambodia this afternoon.

He was seen off at Kang Keng International Airport in Preah Sihanouk province by Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, H.E. Ms. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, and the provincial authorities.

While in Cambodia from July 20 to 22, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong was received in Royal Audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. After that, he met separately with Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and had an official meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In the meetings, both Cambodian and Vietnamese top leaders spoke highly of the good relationship and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen and expand their bilateral relations, particularly promote their connectivity in all sectors.

During this historical visit, the Cambodian and Vietnamese sides signed the Joint Statement on Strengthening Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship and a number of cooperation documents related to the fields of economic connectivity, power, disaster emergency response, and telecoms, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding on Vietnam's grant aid of US$25 million for the construction of an office building for the Cambodian National Assembly's General Secretariat.

Before returning to his country, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, along with Samdech Say Chhum, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the freshly-renovated Monument of Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship in Preah Sihanouk province.

As this year marks the 50th Anniversary of their diplomatic relations, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong's state visit to Cambodia indicated the strong and endured friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which would play a significant role in improving bilateral relations in all fields.
