Crocodile, a Potential Agro Product

Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon has recently paid a visit to a crocodile farm in Siem Reap province.

According to the ministry’s news release, located in Bos Kralanh village, Sangkat Chreav, Siem Reap provincial city, the 16,000-square-metre farm has now 1,200 adult and 3,200 young crocodiles.

H.E. Veng Sakhon encouraged all crocodile farms to further cooperate with the Fishery Administration to boosts the potential of crocodile market.

Currently, a baby crocodile costs between US$15-20 and after raising for three years, it can be sold at US$5-6 per kilogramme. The main market of Cambodia’s crocodiles are Vietnam and Thailand.

Cambodia has so far exported around 320,000 crocodiles annually.
