KUALA LUMPUR – The ‘Dampingi Rakyat Malaysia di Luar Negara’ (meeting Malaysian diaspora) program will be upgraded to Malaysians’ Synergy, starting next year. This change aligns with the MADANI concept, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin informed the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the upgrade to Malaysians’ Synergy is consistent with the MADANI concept, focusing on inclusiveness, equality, and togetherness. He shared these details while concluding the debate on the Supply Bill 2024 for the ministry at the committee level. Mohamad emphasized that this initiative aims to strengthen consensus among Malaysians living abroad and promote social and cultural cohesion, as envisioned in the MADANI concept.
Furthermore, Mohamad stated that Malaysia will continue to assert its role in the struggle and solidarity against the oppression of the Palestinian people. Malaysia plans to leverage international platforms such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the Group of 77 (G77) leaders’ summit, along with the ASEAN level, to emphasize the importance of solidarity with the Palestinian people. He highlighted that on October 20, the government, through the Foreign Minister and other ASEAN Foreign Ministers, issued a statement regarding the increase in armed conflict in the Middle East. This statement calls on all parties to fully respect international humanitarian law and allow unhindered passage of humanitarian aid.
Regarding Malaysia’s preparations to assume the ASEAN chair in 2025, Mohamad informed that the ministry is currently in the early stages of internal planning. Discussions are underway with relevant ministries and agencies to determine the priority areas for the successful execution of the 2025 ASEAN chairmanship.
