Despite Good Ranking, Cambodia is Committed to Deploy More Women for UN Peacekeeping Mission

Despite the country's good ranking in terms of dispatching female forces for United Nations peacekeeping mission, Cambodia has been committed to encourage more women.

Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mine and ERW Clearance (NPMEC), expressed the commitment when leading his delegation to attend the UN peacekeeping sessions lately in New York, the United States of America.

According to the director general, the meeting urged all member countries to increase the deployment of 533 female forces or 15 percent this year to meet the existing needs for their services.

He added that Cambodia was ranked 10th out of 121 countries and 2nd across Asia in terms of sending female forces for the UN peacekeeping mission.

The leadership of the UN peacekeeping committee expressed their appreciation of Cambodia in their bilateral meeting with Gen. Sem Sovanny, who underlined firm stand on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia to support the mission.
