Discussion Forum to Boost Coordination for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has organised a discussion forum to generate buy-in especially from the private sector in order to better coordination and its performance that aligns with the country’s strategic commitments.

Taking place here in Phnom Penh yesterday, the forum was chaired by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon.

The ministry, underscored H.E. Veng Sakhon, cannot work alone to promote the agriculture, forestry and fisheries; so active engagement of all counterparts is vital to bring the areas to the next level.

The minister encouraged it as a family discussion so that all those concerned can brought to the table constructive feedbacks and mechanisms to address existing hurdles.

Around 500 participating representatives from concerned government bodies, private sector, social society organisations and communities appreciated the approach and productive discussion.

According to the minister, all inputs will be seriously considered and captured in ministry’s 2018-2019 direction.

Record from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) shows that against the 2025 target of 12 percent, Cambodia in 2016 exported processed products by 4.6 percent of the total exports.
