Draft Tiger Restoration Plan at Sre Pork Wildlife Sanctuary, Mondulkiri Province Discussed

The Ministry of Environment has been working on a draft operational plan to restore the population of tigers at Sre Pork wildlife sanctuary of Mondulkiri, a northeastern province of Cambodia.

The draft plan has been discussed at a national consultation meeting recently in the presence of H.E. So Khanrithykun, Under Secretary of State for Environment, according to the Ministry of Environment's Facebook page.

The move is aimed to restore and preserve tigers in Cambodia, it underlined.

The Royal Government of Cambodia is also planning to import wild tigers from abroad to avoid the extinction of the animal in the country. To start with, six or seven male and female tigers will be imported and released in Sre Pork and Phnom Prech protected forest areas in Mondulkiri province where Cambodia's tiger was last seen.
