EIB Consider Possible Projects to Support Cambodia’s Agriculture

European Investment Bank (EIB) is considering possible projects to support physical infrastructure and farming development for Cambodia's agriculture.

The interest was underlined by EIB loan officer Ms. Olga Pascenco when received on Wednesday by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon at his office here in Phnom Penh.

EIB, said Ms. Olga Pascenco, is focusing in awareness building about climate change impacts on agriculture, especially through tree planting to promote biodiversity and natural resources, and through establishment of ecotourism that will also improve local livelihoods.

From his end, H.E. Veng Sakhon welcomed the willingness of EIB to support Cambodia's agriculture, and thanked European countries and peoples for contributing to the Kingdom's development so far.

He also proposed the EIB delegation to consider supporting Cambodia with complete procession chain for cash crops such as cassava, corn, mango and cashew nut, and modern irrigation system.

The EIB regional officer hoped to bring the minister's proposal for further discussion among the management of her bank.
