Enhancing Environment and Resources Management in Cambodia

Ministry of Environment has disseminated the booklet on the draft of environment and natural resource code, and discussed the Cambodian environmental legal network.

Taking place back-to-back, the events were chaired by Environment Secretary of State H.E. Sao Sopheap at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.

Senior delegation, technical officials, and the working group from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) attended the gathering.

The booklet on draft of environmental and natural resource code entails a wide range of resources, including public participation and access to information, pollution and waste management, and biodiversity and endangered species protection that promote participatory dialogue and intervention.

It also has specific provisions about climate change, sustainable production and consumption, fisheries, water, forests, extractive industries, energy, coastal zone protection, environmental education, and sustainable cities.

The discussion on Cambodian environmental legal network further promoted buy-in an effective legal supports to bring the environment conservation to a another level.
