Ministry of Environment’s senior delegation is attending the Boao Forum for Asia taking place in Hainan province of China with focus on joint effort for sustainable use of the seas.

The delegation is led by Secretary of State for Environment H.E. Eang Sophalleth, who was also been invited as speaker at the forum.

Lasting from Mar. 26 to 29, the discussion this year was themed ‘Deep Blue: The Familiar Unknown’ and intended to inspire collective insights and concerted actions to effectively, efficiently and sustainably use the seas toward common development and shared future.

It has been accepted that the seas have intimate connection to daily livelihood as well as economic and commercial activities of countries throughout the world.

Interaction of the seas, biodiversity and climate change also demands stronger endeavour to promote marine conservation.

According to online source, the Boao Forum for Asia initiated by China, the Philippines, Japan and Australia is a non-profit organisation that hosts high-level forums for leaders from government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share their vision on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large.
