ETEC Promoting Cambodia Primary and Lower Secondary Teaching

Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been investing on building standardised teaching at primary and lower secondary schools through the establishment of teacher education college, so-called E-TEC thanks to the assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The update of the work progress was shared through a recent press conference organised here in Phnom Penh by E-TEC expert and project lead Mr. Koshi Takahashi.

According to the expert, the six-year project, from 2017 to 2022, is being piloted in Phnom Penh capital and Batambang province.

The project, added Mr. Koshi Takahashi, focuses mainly on diversifying pedagogical skills of teachers, effective school management and curriculum, and strengthening of teacher performance monitoring and evaluation procedure.

With the capacitation through ETC, it is expected that Cambodian teachers' qualification will reach the level of those in Singapore and Vietnam.
