EU Ambassador Requests Cambodian Support for ARISE+Cambodia Project

Outgoing EU Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. George Edgar has requested the support of the Ministry of Commerce for ARISE+Cambodia project, co-financed by EU and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

H.E. George Edgar made the request while paying a farewell visit to H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minster of Commerce, at the ministry office on Tuesday.

ARISE+Cambodia project, to be implemented by Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), will be launched in the near future, he added.

For his part, H.E. Pan Sorasak spoke highly of the diplomatic mission of H.E. George Edgar in Cambodia and welcomed EU’s continued support for the development of the country’s trade sector.

H.E. Pan Sorasak affirmed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with GIZ as the ARISE+Cambodia project has potential to assist Cambodia in the reform of its CamControl (Cambodia Import-Export Inspection and Fraud Repression Directorate General), bettering policies on commerce, trade facilitation and other related tasks which are crucial to the current development context of Cambodia.
