EU Announces Its Approval Worth EUR 87 Million to Support Fisheries Programme in Cambodia

The European Union in Cambodia recently announced its support to Cambodia Programme for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in the Fisheries Sector: Capture component (CAPFISH-Capture) worth EUR 87 million.

According to EU's news release, CAPFISH-Capture will start in 2019 till 2023.

"Fisheries are very important for the food security of the Cambodian people. After investing EUR 30 million in the Aquaculture sector, the EU has just approved a new EUR 87 million 'capture fisheries' programme to support the sustainable management of Cambodia's fisheries sector, with a particular focus on Tonle Sap and marine resources. This new CAPFISH-Capture programme will start in 2019 till 2023", it added.

This announcement was released after H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and H.E. George Edgar, Head of EU Delegation to the Kingdom of Cambodia visited the 'Dai fisheries' on Tonle Sap, the richest inland fisheries in Southeast Asia on Dec 13, 2018.
