The two sides, headed respectively by Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Handicraft H.E. Cham Prasidh and Mr. Osamu Isayama, Chief Executive of Water and Sewer Bureau of Japan’s Kitakyushu City, met on this lately here in Phnom Penh.

The construction of the water purification plant will be made possible through the funding and technical assistance from Japan.

As initially scheduled, the plant will be ready for operation by 2020 and able to ensure daily supply of 30,000 cubic meters of potable water after ten years.

H.E. Cham Prasidh expressed his appreciation for continuing support from Japan, adding that clean water supply is a priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia as it contributes to promoting public health, thus ending poverty.

While requesting the assigned technical team for project to discuss the details with competent officials at Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, the minister urged the team to speed up the full production capacity of the plant.

Residents in at least six Sangkat of Takhmao city, about 11 kilometres to the south of Phnom Penh, will benefit from the water purification plant.
