Facebook to livestream Duterte’s inauguration

In an interview Mr. Andanar said he had a meeting with a Facebook representative who just flew in from Singapore Tuesday night and they talked about how Facebook could help PCOO in livestreaming the inauguration, including tweaking the settings of Facebook live.

“Because usually when you go on Facebook live after 90 minutes it turns off then sets again for a new live event. Facebook will talk to their technical team…if they can tweak the settings,” Mr. Andanar said.

Apart from livestreaming there’s also the possibility of pushing the said event on Facebook internally so that more people can watch it. Mr. Andanar said they will announce soon the official page where they would be streaming the inauguration.

“Facebook will be calling some of our technical staff in the government side because it should be an ongoing to and fro meeting between us and Facebook. We’re thinking very hard [about] the branding because this is the brand that we will be using for the next six years,” Mr. Andanar said.

Considering that the inauguration is next week, Mr. Andanar said they have to finalize the technicalities very soon. The inauguration starts at 10:45 a.m. and ends at about 3:00 p.m. The oathtaking is at 12:30 p.m.

Mr. Andanar said they thought about livestreaming on Facebook because of Mr. Duterte’s huge following on this social media platform.
