FAO Funds Cambodia’s Agricultural Surveys 2021-2026

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has committed a financing of over US$2 million, excluding technical assistance, for agricultural surveys 2021-2026 in Cambodia.
The grant agreement was signed between Senior Minister and Minister of Planning H.E. Dr. Chhay Than and Mr. Antonio Schiavone, FAO Acting Representative here in Phnom Penh recently.
H.E. Dr. Chhay Than underlined the significance of the FAO’s support to the Ministry of Planning, contributing to developing Cambodia’s agricultural data for 2021-2026.
The Cambodia’s agricultural surveys will not only provide necessary data for both household and enterprises, but also feed major indicators for Cambodia’s sustainable development goals (CSDGs).
He also spoke highly of the FAO’s initiative to establish a 50×2050 agricultural survey programme project to finance the 50 countries in the region including Cambodia.
From his end, Mr. Antonio Schiavone hoped it will contribute to a quality agricultural data collection in Cambodia, especially through a good collaboration among the National Institute of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and FAO.
The six-year Cambodia’s agricultural surveys project will cost about US$5 million, including over US$ 2 million from FAO and the rest from the Royal Government.
