FDI to Cambodia Values at US$3.5 billion in 2019

Cambodia attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth in total US$3,588 million in 2019, an 11.7 percent increase compared to 2018, pointed out a report, stressing that nearly half of the total investment was from China.

In the Macroeconomic and Banking Progress 2019 Report and 2020 Outlook released recently by the National Bank of Cambodia, the financial sector received US$2,385 million worth of FDI, while the non-financial sector US$1,203 million.

Of the investment, 43 percent was from China, 11 percent from South Korea, 7 percent from Vietnam, 6 percent each from Singapore and Japan, and other countries, 27 percent.

For 2020, the FDI is projected to increase by 10 percent to US$3,951 million, the NBC said.
