Filipinos protest against extrajudicial killings

According to police data which was submitted to a Senate investigation on 23 August by PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, at least 756 people were slain during anti-drug police operations and 1,160 more deaths were committed by still unknown assailants based on a tally from 01 July to 23 August, putting the overall toll of lives at 1,916 or an average of 36 deaths per day, killed in a violent campaign against drugs in the Philippines since President Rodrigo Duterte took office, the country's national police chief said.
