Five Provinces Found with African Swine Fever with Over 3,000 Pigs Get Sick and Die

Up to now, African swine fever has spotted in Cambodia’s five provinces causing illness and death of over 3,000 pigs financially worth more than half a million U.S. dollars.

The update was shared by H.E. Tan Phannara, Director General of Animal Health and Production General Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in a press conference on the current situation of African Swine Fever in Cambodia here in Phnom Penh yesterday.

The director general continued that there is now no vaccination or medicine for that virus in Cambodia yet, however, competent authority is working hard to thoroughly monitor the distribution and import of pigs, pork as well as pork products in the country.

The happening outbreak of African swine fever is affecting only pigs grown by households, not those raised in big farms or for trading, he added.

According to H.E. Tan Phannara, the five provinces detected with the disease include Rattanakiri, Thbong Khmum, Svay Rieng, Takeo, and Kandal.
