Flash Floods To Hit Some Provinces in Cambodia

The Ministry of Water Resource and Meteorology has issued a warning over heavy rainfall in almost throughout the country due to a low air pressure occurring in the South China Sea.

According to the ministry’s announcement dated Aug. 16, Cambodia faces this weather patterns particularly between Aug. 17 and 20, 2017.

Heavy rain along with thunder and lightning will hit Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kandal, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Battambang, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Mondulkiri, Rattanakiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, and Oddar Meanchey as well as the coastal provinces, it pointed out.

Takeo, Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Pailin, Kampong Thom, Thbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, and Kratie provinces will see medium rainfall, it added.

The ministry thus called on all relevant ministries, institutions, local authorities and the pubic, mainly the fishermen, to take high precautions of possible flash floods and accidents.
