Former Cambodian Petanque Champion Aims High for Competition in Spain

Cambodian Petanque athlete is committed to build new record for the nation in the upcoming 2021 World Triplets and Precision Shooting Championships to be held from Nov. 19 to 21 in Spain.
The commitment was made by Mr. Sok Chanmean, Former World Petanque Champion in 2016 before leaving for Spain on Nov. 16.
Mr. Sok Chanmean continued that four Cambodian Petanque athletes and a coach attending the event include him, Mr. Thong Chhoeun, Mr. Nhem Bora, Mr. Sin Vong and Mr. Im Phat.
Mr. Sok Chammean will compete for scoring subject, and also join with other Cambodian athletes to compete for another subject in group: 3 men versus 3 men.
Since 2001, Mr. Sok Chanmean has attended 29 international events, and earned 39 medals including 12 gold medals.
He also won the World Petanque Championships for a silver medal in 2004 in France and a gold medal in 2016 in Madagascar.
Taking place in Santa Susana of Spain, the 2021 World Petanque Championship has three contests: the women’s championship and the junior world championship from Nov. 12 to 14 and the men’s championship from Nov. 19 to 21, 2021.
For the women’s championship, Cambodian national athlete Ouk Sreymom has earned a gold medal, making Cambodia the world’s petanque champion for the fifth time consecutively.
