Former Opposition Leader To Face Another Lawsuit

The former opposition leader Mr. Sam Rainsy will face another lawsuit from the military sector, according to Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Speaking to over 15,000 factory workers and employees at Odem area, Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said as far as he knew, the commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and armed personnel would file a lawsuit against Mr. Sam Rainsy who has tried again and again to call on the army to turn their cannons to oppose the legal government.

This self-imposed exile politician is facing different arrest warrants for defamation, incitement for discrimination, and for faking Cambodia-Vietnam border treaty.

Mr. Sam Rainsy is former president of the former opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) from its establishment on July 17, 2012 until he resigned on Feb. 11, 2017.

Mr. Sam Rainsy has been spending almost of his political career abroad by self-imposed exile to avoid jail sentences.
