GDT Collects Some US$121.5 Million in May

Some US$121.5 million have been collected as tax income in May this year, according to a report of the General Department of Taxation (GDT) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

For the first five months of this year, it added, the GDT has collected a total of US$708 million as tax income, or 49.8 percent of the 2016 Budget Law. The figure showed an increase by 21.68 percent compared to the same period last year.

GDT Director General H.E. Kong Vibol said in a monthly meeting held here late last week that the growth of tax income derived from the increase in almost all kinds of tax items including tax on profit, tax on salary, valued-added tax and special tax.

H.E. Kong Vibol also highly valued the hard work of tax officers and he called for the enforcement of tax audit, tax debt collection management, tax registration procedures, update of enterprises, and so on.
