Gender and Development Delegates from Myanmar Make Exposure Visit to Cambodia

Group of Cambodian female lawmakers of the National Assembly received here in Phnom Penh a delegation from the Gender and Development Institute of Myanmar for an exposure visit.

The visit, according to the lead of the delegation Ms. Khaing Mar Htay, primarily aims to learn about the legal procedure of Cambodia for the formation of the National Assembly’s female lawmaker group.

Representing Cambodian National Assembly’s female lawmaker group, H.E. Nin Saphon warmly welcomed the Myanmar delegation and presented various roles of her group.

In addition to the usual duties as lawmakers, said H.E. Nin Saphon, the group pays very much attention on decision making that affects the lives of Cambodian women and children and gender equality.

The female lawmaker group, she added, also took time to promote the awareness of rights among women and children as well as to build their capacity and provide technical vocational skill training to them.

The delegates from Myanmar appreciated the warm hospitality and good experience sharing as the idea is new for the country.
