Cambodia’s Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MOWA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held here at Phnom Penh Hotel on Aug. 29 the 5th Fifth Meeting of Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) for the Project on Gender Mainstreaming for Women’s Economic Empowerment (PGM-WEE).
H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of MOWA, presided over the event with around 130 participants from National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD), Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the eight partner ministries and departments and MOWA, JICA Headquarters, JICA Cambodia Office and experts in attendance.
According to JICA Cambodia Office, the meeting was aimed to review the results of terminal evaluation of the project and discuss the way forward of the project’s outputs for the remaining four months of project period. The terminal evaluation of the project is conducted to review the activities of the cooperation between MOWA and JICA since 2003.
The achievements of PGM-WEE in terms of the DAC’s six evaluation criteria (Relevance, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Coherence, Impact and Sustainability) need to be analysed, said JICA, adding that the recommendation and lessons learned of PGM-WEE have to be highlighted for all stakeholders’ measurement for their future action plan.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi lauded the project which has contributed to increasing household income by improving small businesses of women in rural areas, as well as to strengthening women’s trust and self-confidence, increasing relations between women and men, and reducing violence against women in target villages.
