Gist of Latest Friday-Meeting of the Council of Ministers

Friday-meeting of the Council of Ministers last week has approved draft law and defined emerging commitments to promote business climate, worker's commitment and benefits, and regional and bilateral cooperation.

In the meeting, the council first and foremost endorsed a draft law that will preserve copy rights and inspire creativities, new researches and technologies seen as means to further encourage entrepreneurs and investors.

Cambodia's senior team also tasked the National Social Security Fund to carry out occupational risk insurance and health care benefit for public servants, and requested a joint-ministerial working group to review the transparency and equity of NGO staff's salary tax.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen decided to devote his Sundays, commencing Aug. 20, to lead a delegation to visit factory workers in order to better understand their conditions and build up their motivation.

In terms of regional and bilateral cooperation, the meeting agreed to submit amendment on comprehensive economic cooperation between ASEAN and the People's Republic of China to the legislative body for approval, and on taskforce to host a Cambodia-Thailand Joint Cabinet Retreat in September.

As usual, the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Peace Palace here in Phnom Penh.
