Government Creates Commission on CNRP’s Fingerprint Analysis

A commission to conduct research and analysis on over 170,000 people’s fingerprints on a petition of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) has been created, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng told a local media yesterday.

According to Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, the commission will be headed by National Police Commissioner General Neth Savoeun and the commission will begin its work soon.

On May 31, His Majesty the King Norodom Sihamoni sent a letter to Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to consider the case of more than 170,000 fingerprints submitted to him by CNRP a day earlier. After receiving the royal letter, the premier ordered Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng to conduct a thorough study of those fingerprints.
