Government Employs 2,737 People with Disabilities

Some 2,737 disabled people have been working for different ministries and state institutions, according to the figures released here this morning at the celebration of the 19th National and 35th International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Forty-three (43) ministries and state institutions have been employing a total of 2,737 disable people, an equivalent to 1.7 percent, and more will be recruited in 2018 in order to achieve the royal government’s set figure of 2 percent of the total civil servants.

Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the National Defence and high representative of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, who presided the celebration, underlined the significance of peace, stressing that only peace can prevent and reduce disabilities and improve the living standard of all disabled people.

There are almost half a million disabled people in Cambodia due to civil war, traffic accidents and illness.
