Government Preventing Illegal Import of Pigs and Pork Products

Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a circulation to prevent illegal import of pigs and pork products.

Signed recently by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the circulation was made following the epidemic of African swine fever in the country's some provinces, including Rattanakiri, Thbong Khmum, Svay Rieng, Takeo, and Kandal causing illness and death of many pigs.

Along with the prevention of pig and pork product imports, the government also instructed the monitoring of pig's health, farms and slaughterhouses in order to evade the outbreak of the virus in Cambodia.

The government also encouraged improved animal hygiene, destruction of ill pigs, and public awareness building on the African swine fever through inter-ministerial interventions.
