Government Rejects LICADHO’s Report

H.E. Phay Siphan, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Office of the Council of Ministers, has rejected a detailed report on political prisoners in Cambodia, released on May 17 by LICADHO, a Cambodian human rights NGO.

This is a baseless and fictional report and a exaggerated campaign against the legal procedures, H.E. Phy Siphan was quoted as saying by local media.

As Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen had told U.S. President H.E. Barack Obama, he added, Cambodia has no political prisoners, but only individuals are behind the bar for breaking the law.

What LICADHO had done is beyond its partnership and its jurisdiction as a non-governmental organisation, underlined the spokesperson.
